Erickson, Gerald Allen age 86, of Wayzata, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2024.
He is preceded in death by parents Arthur and Elsie, sister Marjorie, and daughter Tristin Olivia.
Born and raised in Barron, WI, Gerald moved to Minneapolis as a young boy when his father and uncle began building Holiday Companies. He attended The Blake School and graduated from Carlton College, where he excelled as the captain of the football teams. He furthered his education by earning an MBA from Columbia Business School. It was during choir practice at Mount Olivet that he met his beloved wife Kathleen, thus beginning their journey as high school sweethearts and continuing to support each other through their academic pursuits. That journey would see them share over 65 years of marriage.
Gerald was known for his strength, steadfastness, and generosity. He had a compassionate heart and a deep commitment to his friends, family, and community. With a keen eye for design and an innate creativity, he delighted in planning projects that beautified his home and uplifted those around him. His culinary skills brought warmth and joy to his household, reflecting his passion for creating a welcoming environment. An active partner and owner in Holiday Companies, Gerald found joy both at home and cherished the winters spent in the Dominican Republic. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and integrity.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife Kathleen, sons Jerry (Benigno) and Ted (Angela), much loved grandsons Colton and Wyatt, and his dear brother Richard (Bonnie). He will be deeply missed by numerous nephews, nieces, and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
A memorial service will take place at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis on April 6th at 1:30 PM. No reception, but a brief visit with family will begin one hour prior at the chapel entrance.
