Carol Mary Brickley
Age 81, of Long Lake, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Preceded in death by husband, Patrick; daughter, Mary; parents, Earl and Florence Nelson; sister, Margaret Lawton; granddaughter, Meghan. Carol's heritage in Long Lake runs deep. Her grandparents, Olaf and Martha Nelson and parents, Earl and Florence Nelson raised their families on the family homestead on Long Lake. Olaf and Martha donated a parcel of land which is now Nelson Lakeside Park on Long Lake. This was a gift to the city for the community to forever enjoy as a public park. Carol attended Orono schools starting in what is now the Long Lake Museum and graduated with the High School Class of 1954. Carol was a homemaker but also worked outside the home at Vickerman Steel, Rettinger Bros. Oil & Orono Schools. She sold Lefton China out of her Deephaven home and later became an Avon Sales Representative for 35+ years. She volunteered at St. Therese church rummage sales and holiday bizarres including the American Cancer Society World’s Largest Garage Sales. Carol loved attending and hosting her own garage sales. She also loved shopping, antiquing, movies and dining out for lunch. Her greatest love was spending time with family. Everyone was always welcome at the Brickley’s home. She was born on December 25, 1936 and what a Christmas Carol she was! Her favorite holiday was evident with her high end holiday home décor which was transformed every year into a Christmas Celebration! Carol’s strong love and commitment to life was demonstrated each and every day. Survived by her children; Pat (Dianne), Kathy (Harold) Katz, Beth (Jon Vukelich) Allen, Mike (Diane), Jennifer (Jason) Revels and Scott Schneider, sisters; Kathy (Jack Fetter) Olsen, Marie (David Kidd) Nelson; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
