David Arthur Wiest

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of David “Beasto” Wiest, age 68, in his Minnetonka home on October 12, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Anita Wiest, and sister, Geraldine. Dave, along with his wife, best friend and partner in crime, Ginny, owned EMEX Benefits for the past 35 years. Dave was an active and prominent member of the MN health insurance community and served on the Board of Directors of the MN Assoc. of Health Underwriters. His passion for helping others and giving to his community is only surpassed by his deep love, commitment and devotion to his family. He was a man of many interests which included his lake home, his beloved dogs, hunting, fishing, baseball, classic rock, vintage muscle cars, debating with anyone/anywhere, telling stories about what he and his gang of troublemakers did when they were young, bragging about his children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces and spending the entirety of his life taking care of his clan, whether his by blood or by love- Wiestside. Dave was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in his 20’s and heart disease later in life. He never let his health challenges get in the way of pursuing his dreams, passions and goals and he didn’t let it define who he was. He taught by example, that anyone can do anything if they are determined and are willing to dig deep. Living out loud with gusto and unlimited love and passion was his way, the “Dave” way. Everyone that loved him, or that was loved by him is better for it. His presence will be missed deeply at home and in his community. Dave is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny”; daughter, Alycia (Cary); son, Cory (Courtney); grandchildren, Dylan Lindgren, Aryanna Riedl, Cooper & Crosby Wiest, Noah & Zoe Rothschild; sister, Alexandria Wiest and many beloved  relatives and friends. His memory lives on through his family and his work. Papa, you will be missed more than we can express in words. We love you more than the sun and the moon and the stars in the sky. Funeral service Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Mpls. Visitation one hour prior to service. After the interment, we will Celebrate his life at the Medina Entertainment Center (approx 4:30 – 6:30 pm). Memorials preferred to The American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association or SCI, Lake Superior Chapter.
