Estelle King Obituary

Died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Wayzata, Minnesota on November 7, 2019.

Estelle was born on July 13, 1930 in Evanston and raised in Winnetka, Illinois, the second child of John and Barbara Blunt.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, Barbara Ann Coughlin, and is survived by her younger brother, John Blunt.  She is also survived by her four sons, Peter, Johnny, Clifford, and Jack Noble and their families.

Estelle has eight grandchildren, Clinton, Natalie, Arin, Luke, Asher, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Lauren, and two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and another on the way.

Other dear family and friends include all the Coughlins, Blunts, Landons, Kahns, Stell’s beloved cousin Lefty (Mary Dailey), Doreen and Sarah Mallett, Anna Lou Ford, Mary Jeanne Bowen, and numerous Heathcote neighbors.  Especially dear to Estelle are the children of her second husband, the Reverend Harold King: Todd, Avis, Lydia and their families.  If we missed your name, if you knew and loved this woman, add your name to the list – perhaps in a whisper.

Estelle married John Noble in 1954.  They moved to Minnesota, Idylwood Road in Hopkins and Heathcote Drive in Deephaven, had four boys and raised them as avid Vikings and Twins fans.  Estelle loved sports of all kinds.  She was a golfer, canoer, kayaker, horse-back rider, and above all, a swimmer.  Estelle swam one mile non-stop three times a week for decades and completed the 5-mile swim from Excelsior to Wayzata many times.  She loved cats, and with her sister-in-law (and best friend) Sally Partridge Noble Kahn founded a business, “The Cat House”, a gift shop for cat lovers.

Estelle graduated from North Shore Country Day School (High School Diploma), Briarcliff College (Associate Degree), and Northwestern University (Bachelor of Science in Psychology).  She was an active member of Wayzata Community Church, a volunteer at The Hammer School and The Junior League, and a member of Woodhill and Lafayette Country Clubs.

A Memorial service will be held at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd East, Wayzata on Friday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please donate in Estelle’s name to the charity of your choice.
