Joan L. Mooers

One day shy of her 90th birthday, our dearly beloved mother passed away peacefully on September 28th surrounded by family.  Mom was a very gracious and kind woman who loved her family and friends very much. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Craig and sisters, Ellie and Shirley.  She is survived by three children, Steve Mooers and wife Debbie, Mick Mooers and wife Julie, Pam Nouis; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  The love of her life and husband of 55 years, Harry, went to be with the Lord in 2005. Craig was called home as an infant.

Mom knew how to make people feel welcome.  “Would you like something to drink, are you hungry?” were usually her first words.  She loved visitors and was more interested in talking about you than about herself.  Her gracious and thankful attitude was even more evident as she aged.

Mom had a special love for Norway and being around water. Her parents, John and Lena Reppen, came directly from Norway, met and married here.  She made several visits to Norway to meet relatives and learn about her heritage.  Mom and Dad both loved to travel. As for water, Mom and Dad raised us on Lake Minnetonka and owned places on Lake Superior and Marco Island, Florida.  Thank you Mom and Dad for all the wonderful memories these places provided.

We are forever grateful for our wonderful Mom. We will miss you. You are with Dad, Craig, your parents and many friends, which overrides the sadness and loss we feel for ourselves. Love from us all!

The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 2nd, at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 Wayzata Blvd E, Wayzata.  Please join us for visitation one hour prior to the service and for a small reception one hour after. Memorials preferred to the donor’s favorite charity. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery.
