John McGill Obituary

On Tuesday September 17, 2019, John David McGill, loving husband and father of 3 sons, died peacefully at the age of 85.

J. David (Dave) McGill was born on May 14, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Leonard and Catherine (Kay)  McGill.  Dave was a second generation Dentist who practiced in Wayzata for 39 years.  Prior to that he served as a dentist in the US Air Force.  He received his Dental degree from the University of Minnesota in 1960. On November 12 of 1960, he married the love of his life, Monica Bregel. They have three sons, David, Jim and Tim.

A proud and enthusiastic lifetime resident of Wayzata volunteering and serving in a number of community and civic roles dating back to 1957.  

He is preceded in death by his mother, Kay McGill, his father, Leonard McGill and sister Catherine (Kay) and her husband Arnie Giebel.  He is survived by his wife, Monica; his three sons, David and wife Rebecca and their two children Marissa and Kyle, Jim and wife Debra and their two children Maggie and Michael,  Tim and wife Laura and their two children, Ana and George. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann and her husband Jack Adams and Lynn and her husband Phil Rusciano and their respective families and remaining Giebel family members.   

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 27th, 2019 at The Church of Saint Bartholomew located at 630 Wayzata Blvd E, Wayzata, MN.  Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM followed by Mass at 3:00 PM and a reception at 4:30 PM
