Justin D. Challgren

Age 46, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mound on June 8. He was born on February 23, 1973 in Schenectady, NY to Carl and Kathleen (Matthews) Challgren. The family moved to IL and ultimately MN where Justin  enjoyed playing football and basketball in the Wayzata Schools and graduated from Wayzata High School in 1991. From there Justin attended Iowa State University and continued on to graduate from University of St. Thomas. He worked as a successful Territory Sales Manager for Ivanti Software.  

Justin loved playing broomball at Lord Fletcher’s, tending the neighborhood ice rink, boating with family and working with his brothers and dad to restore the family cabin on Gull Lake. His greatest joy by far was fathering his three wonderful boys. Justin was a dedicated dad, always involved in his boys’ activities. He shared his love of sports with his boys and took immense pleasure in watching them play football, hockey and baseball.

Justin is survived by his sons, William (William’s mother, Britta Frantz), Camron and Carter (their mother, Sarah Peterson), Justin’s parents, Carl and Kathleen (Matthews) Challgren and his three older brothers, Fenton (Amy), Steven (Amy), Brian (Clarisse) and his nieces and nephews, Nick (Alyssa, son Jay), Ben, Jane, Abbey, Sam, Cate, Gabriella and Caroline who will miss his gentle manner and wonderful smile.

Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at Wayzata Community Church, 125 East Wayzata Blvd. There will be a time to gather and meet the family following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the J. Challgren Memorial Education Fund has been created for the boys’ education and donations will be graciously accepted at the Wells Fargo Wayzata branch.
