Lucille Soderholm Obituary

Soderholm, Lucille Hattie Schalo, February 19, 1928 - January 18,2020, passed away peacefully in her sleep at nearly 92 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joel Soderholm II; son Joel Soderholm III; and son, Scott Soderholm.  She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Debbie Soderholm; granddaughter, Carrie (Ray) Caruso; granddaughter, Mandi Soderholm; and great-granddaughter, Taylor Caruso. Lucille had a big personality in a tiny body, and will be remembered well by all who knew her. She was born in Hanover, MN, and learned how to drive at 11 years old on a wild ride in a black '39 Chev. Swept off her feet in 1949 by a charismatic, handsome soldier, she began an amazing life with Joe and her 3 well-loved boys. She never missed a chance to visit, call, write to, or connect with the hundreds of friends she made in her long lifetime. She was active in the community, writing for the newspaper in Winona, MN, and serving as a Cub Scout den mother.  She was a long-time member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Hopkins, MN, where she taught Bible School and planned events like Saturday Night Club. Her hobbies included dancing, cooking, knitting, crafting and bowling (using a SIXTEEN pound ball!) She's been known to plan and host some great parties, to tip back a Jack & Coke or two, to tell an off-color joke every now and then, to kick up her heels on the dance floor, to do a lot of laughing and living her life to the fullest. She loved glitzy stuff, and went by several nicknames: Queenie, Luke, Sequin Sally, Loose Wheel, and Lucky, just to name a few.  She was Lucky in life, in bingo, in slots, in church drawings, and she was definitely lucky in love! Funeral service 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata with visitation beginning at 4.  Interment St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover.
