Bjella, Russell H. 84, died on Friday, August 10, 2018 in Lady Lake, Florida. He was born in Bemidji, Minnesota to Timan and Constance (Aakre) Bjella and was the youngest of five children. Russ graduated from the University of Minnesota, where he was an active member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After graduation, Russ served in the United States Army, and he met his wife, the late Christine (Marpert) Bjella, while serving in post-WWII Germany. After an honorable discharge from the military, he went on to have a highly successful sales career with Jostens, Inc. Russ will be remembered by his family for his loving protection and care, his generosity, and his zest for life. He delighted everyone around him with his lively personality and outgoing nature, as well as his dry sense of humor and his lifelong passion for singing, theater, college football, golf, and tennis. Survived by children Craig (Sharon), Tim (Robyn), and Connie; grandchildren Russell, Sam, and Beck. Preceded in death by siblings Lowell, Audrey ("Dolly") McGinty, Cheryl ("Cheri") Horton, and Tim. Memorial gathering 3-5 pm Friday, September 14, 2018 at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata. Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
