Alice Wall Obituary
Age 85, of Wayzata MN, passed on to her
eternal life on October 28, 2016 after battling cancer and
heart related issues. Alice was born January 16, 1931, in
Yellow Medicine County to Anna (Vondra) and Herman
Albrecht. She grew up on a farm near Madison, MN and
attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. When Alice
was 13-years-old, her mother passed away and Alice left
school for a year to help with household responsibilities
and care for her younger siblings. She graduated from
Madison High School in 1949, receiving a scholarship to a
technical school in Minneapolis. Alice became an x-ray
technician and landed her first job in Kansas. She
returned to Minneapolis where she met Frederick L. Wall
III, who was from Quincy, MA. Alice and Fred married on
October 1,1960 at the Basilica of St. Mary. They were
blessed with three children and seven grandchildren.
Alice was the beautiful, quiet strength behind her family.
She cherished time with her children and grandchildren.
She hosted numerous family holidays, trips and reunions.
She stayed connected with friends and family by handwriting
hundreds of Christmas cards every year.
Alice loved to travel, ultimately rounding every curve of the
globe. She was as comfortable sleeping in a tent as she
was touring the grand castles of the world. She cherished
time at the family cabin on Madeline Island and enjoyed
winters in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was competitive on
the golf course and played in leagues at the Lafayette
Club in Minnetonka Beach and Pinnacle Peak Country
Club in Scottsdale. She was known to snow ski, water ski,
scuba dive, navigate a boat around the Caribbean and
pilot an airplane. Alice was an exceptional cook and
delighted in setting a beautiful table. She enjoyed baking
Christmas cookies with her grandchildren and will be
remembered by generations of neighborhood children for
creating the spooky Halloween house.
Alice was grounded in her Catholic faith and gave with her
heart expecting nothing in return. Alice was a member
of St. Therese Parish in Deephaven, MN for 46 years.
She believed in giving back to the community and was the
inspiration behind The Alice and Fred Wall Family
Foundation. Alice participated in Bible Study Fellowship
and volunteered at church, in her childrens schools, and
at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
Alice will be missed by her husband of 56 years, Frederick
L. Wall; children, John (Patricia) Wall of Plymouth; Richard
(Laura) of Eden Prairie; Elizabeth (Dan) Lee of Sunfish
Lake; and grandchildren, Jack and Lauren Wall, Kevin and
Shannon Lee, and Emilie, Ericka and Julianna Wall; and
