Allen Lavanger Obituary Born September 8, 1924 in Aneta, ND. Peacefully passed away on February 1, 2017 in Orono, MN at age 92. Survived by older sister Ardis Asp; three sons, Eric (Jaimie), Peter (Leilani Labelle), Tim (Margaret); eight grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda), David, Eric, Anna, Julia, Kiley, Matthew and Hadley (Lucas) Wilcox; one great-grandson, Sullivan Wilcox as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Shirley, as well as parents, uncles, aunts and cousins. After service in the US Army and graduation from Concordia College (Morehead, MN), he began his career as a Special Agent of the FBI. As kids in the 1960s there was nothing cooler than having an FBI Agent as a dad (though somewhat less cool when someone allegedly misbehaved). After retirement from the FBI, he worked for several banks in the Minneapolis area as a security expert. Growing up, Dad helped us make many wonderful memories, from touring the country on family vacations to enjoying the beauty of the north woods at the family cabin on Deer Lake. He especially took joy in being a grandfather and great-grandfather, passing on his love of fishing, boating and cookies to the younger generations. He was also very proud of his Norwegian heritage. As a longtime member of Torske Klubben, he enjoyed many cod and potato lunches with his three sons. These solid traditions and happy memories will live on and continue to be passed down through the family that loves him. Special thanks and appreciation to the care team in the memory unit at Trails of Orono- theyre the best. Memorial service will be Thursday, February 9 at Glory of Christ Lutheran Church 4040 Hwy 101 N (at Hwy 55), Plymouth, MN. Visitation at 10am; Service at 11am with lunch following. Private interment at Groveland Cemetery. Memorials to University of Minnesota Torske Klubben Scholarship Program.
