Barbara Cook Obituary Cook, Barbara Barnwell age 85, long time resident of St. Paul and Rochester, Minnesota, died September 2, 2006 in Traverse City, Michigan surrounded by her loved ones. Barbara was born Barbara Atwood Barnwell, on July 2, 1921, the youngest child of Bonnie Borden Barnwell and Rufus Lee Barnwell. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Brooks Barnwell; her husband of 54 years, the Reverend Samuel Cook; and her daughter, Margaret Cook. She is survived by her four children, Stephen Cook (Michele Fallon) of Minneapolis, David Cook (Deborah) of Edina, Katharine Douglass (Bruce) of Traverse City, Michigan, Elizabeth Cook; and her five grandchildren, Justin and Evan Cook, Sarah Cook, and Andrew and Christopher Douglass. Barbara was a singer and a journalist, winning the School Bell Award for her newspaper series on Dyslexia. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her quick wit, intelligence, creativity, warmth, and beauty. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1895 Laurel Ave, St. Paul, Minnesota on September 16 at 10:30 a.m. A one-hour visitation will precede the funeral. In lieu of flowers please send contributions for the Louis G.
