Obituary

Barbara-Lee Nelson Obituary Age 75, of Minnetonka, passed away to eternal peace January 10, 2014. Preceded in death by parents, Leon and Geraldine Greene, and brother, Stephen Greene. Survived by loving husband, Darhl; son, Scott (Barbara) Nelson; daughter, Stacey (Brian) Maupin; her treasured grandsons, Matthew (fiancee Tara Niebeling) Nelson, Colin Maupin, Daniel Nelson, Tyler Maupin and Garrett Maupin, and blended grandchildren, Joseph (Adrienne) Kyllonen, John Kyllonen, and Cassidy (Marine Sgt Chris) Eklund and great-granddaughter, Alice. Born in Duluth and starting life on Park Point, she moved soon to Highland Park where she graduated from St. Paul Central high school in 1956. After graduation from the University of Minnesota, she and Darhl started a new life in Crystal, where she passionately volunteered for her childrens' and the community's activities. Worked for several years in the library when Robbinsdale-Armstrong first opened, and later for many years in retail sales. A creative gardening expert with success in growing native plants and exotic flowers, the designer of her unique Minnetonka home, a shopping guru and artist at wrapping gifts, she left her mark in endless ways while extending her unselfish love and assistance to all that were touched by her life. Private memorial service for family at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 952-443-1400.
