Barbara Markle Obituary Markle, Barbara Foss was born in Danville, PA October 15, 1922. She passed away on March 24, 2007 following a 7 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Barbara is a graduate of The Madeira School in McLain, VA. and attended Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. She has worked as a volunteer and served on the boards of: Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago; Chapin Hall Center for Children in Chicago where she also served as President; and Sister Kenney Institute and Abbott Northwestern Hospital of Minneapolis. Barbara was on the founding Board of Directors of Park House, an HIV/AIDS Support Center, Minneapolis. Her memberships included: Woodhill Country Club, Lake Minnetonka Garden Club and Minnesota Chapter of Colonial Dames. Preceding her in death are her father, Dr. Harold L. Foss, her mother, Isabel Polk Foss and her only sibling, Elizabeth Foss Foster. Surviving her are her husband, Thomas V. Markle, whom she married on October 15, 1942; their daughters, Barbara Vaughn Polk, Boulder CO; Judy Foss Markle Pool (Tom) Greenwood Village, CO; their son Peter Foss Markle (Melinda) Santa Monica, CA; their seven grandchildren: Jennifer Howell, Regan Bunn, Isabel Schuler, Alexandra and Markell Pool, Lily and Lucas Markle, plus two great grandchildren: Eloise and Tatum Howell. Barbara loved tennis, skiing, golf, bridge and traveling, but her greatest pleasures came from being with her family and countless friends. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave S, Minneapolis, on Friday March 30 at 2:30 P.M. Reception will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Great Hall.
