Barbara Pearce Obituary Pearce, Barbara Ann (ne Smith) Age 88, of Long Lake passed away April 14, 2017. Barbara was born April 21, 1928 to Owen and Alma Smith in Renville, Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing in 1950, after which she worked as an obstetrics nurse and later in public health. In 1951 she married William Pearce, a young law student and immediately had three children and then a fourth. Barbara was a loving wife to her husband of 66 years, and a devoted and caring mother to her children and to their friends. After launching her children she worked as a volunteer in the emergency room at HCMC every Wednesday for 30 years, where she was much valued for her compassion and her sensitivity to the needs of patients, their families and the ER staff. She served for many years on the Board of the Service League of HCMC. Barbara divided her time between her home in Long Lake, the cabin in northern Wisconsin that she loved so much and Naples, Florida. Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity and for her love for her family and friends. She is survived by her brother, William Smith of Renville; her husband, William Pearce; and her children, Mary Reyelts and husband, Paul Reyelts of Minneapolis; Laurie Pearce of Evergreen, CO; Bill Pearce and wife Peg of Naperville, IL; and Betsy Pearce and husband, Michael Quinn of New York; and grandchildren, Jennifer Fiore, William and James Pearce and Gracie and William Reyelts; and great-grandchildren, Evangeline, Madeline and Molly Pearce; and her beloved Cavalier Spaniel, Ellie Mae. Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Wednesday April 19, 2017 at the Church of St Bartholomew 630 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata with visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
