Barend vanWyk Obituary van Wyk, Barend Barry Age 80. Born April 10, 1929 and died April 10, 2009 of leukemia. He passed on at home with his loving family at his side. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Sonja; daughters, Sue (Gary), Kara (Malcom); son, Matt (Kristin); six grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim and Len. He grew up in Palmyra, NY and was a graduate of Iowa State University. He taught chemistry and photography at Orono High School in Orono, MN for 33 years. He had a love of poetry and was an avid cyclist. Funeral service at Minnetonka Lutheran Church, 16023 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka, at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 14 with visitation one hour prior to service at the church.
