Betty Groomes Obituary Groomes, Betty J. age 85, of Plymouth, from complications following a stroke. Preceded in death by husband of 59 years, William R. (Bill) who passed away in Feb., 2003. Survived by sons, Gary W. and Richard E. (Kim F.); grandchildren, Emily K. and David W.; other loving relatives and friends. Betty grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, survived the Depression, attended the University of Pittsburgh and married in 1943. Moved to Wayzata, MN in 1971. Survived breast cancer in 1974. Retired from Cargill. Traveled across the globe and volunteered at Wayzata Community Church and Wayzata Library. As a devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother, and good friend, we will miss her graciousness, generosity and kindness. She was truly a living saint. Memorials preferred to Wayzata Community Church. Funeral service Wed., 11 AM, Wayzata Community Church, 125 E. Wayzata Blvd. Visitation Tues., 6-8 PM at the David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata, and one hour prior to service at church. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
