Calvin Anderson Obituary Anderson, Calvin James Born July 8, 1924 in Brainerd, MN died peacefully surrounded by his family on November 28, 2005 at age 81. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sarah LaStrange Anderson. First Lt. USMC stationed in Guam and China. Graduate of University of MN Law School in 1949. For more than 40 years as General Council, Secretary to the Board of Directors, President of the Cargill Foundation and President of Waycross, Cal Anderson devoted his creative mind, common business sense and legal talent to Cargill. Colleagues remember Cal as the consummate example of enthusiasm, talent and of course, humor. He contributed greatly to the substantial worldwide growth of the company. He also played a significant role in helping to focus the philanthropic activities of the corporation and the Cargill Foundation. Cal was active in his church and community in Wayzata as well as Sanibel Island. An avid outdoorsman, most of the year he could be found fly fishing on Pine Island Sound. During the fall he enjoyed spending time hunting at Long Meadow Lake or at his Full Circle Farms in South Dakota. He is survived by his five children: Sara Rohling (Jeff), Nina Collins, Sheila Higgins (Matthew), Leslie Williams (Dave), Judd Anderson (Karen) and 15 grandchildren. The family would like to thank special friend Erick Kroeger and the staff of Meridian Manor for the loving care they provided our father. Memorial Mass 11 AM Saturday, December 3, 2005 at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Wayzata. Visitation one hour prior to Mass. Interment St. Isabel Cemetery, Sanibel, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association 4550 W. 77 Street, Edina, MN 55435.
