Calvin Lundquist Obituary Lundquist, Calvin Noble (Cal) age 86, died on December 16 from complications following an aortic aneurism. Cal was born in Minneapolis on June 6, 1930. He attended Minneapolis Marshall High School. He was a war veteran, serving in South Korea during the Korean War. After returning home from Korea, Cal continued to pursue his education, in Boulder, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Architecture, and returned to Minnesota to pursue his career as an architect. As the principal architect in his firm, Cal developed major housing projects throughout Minnesota, as well as on Indian Reservations in both the United States and Canada. He also developed shopping malls and casinos in the U.S. and Canada. He was an early proponent of concrete dome architecture for housing, schools, and other uses. Cal was both a gifted artist and a published author of multiple books. He was an ardent participant in amateur athletics, including broomball, football, softball, and basketball. An enthusiastic golfer, Cal participated in several annual tournaments throughout the state. he continued to play regularly through the 2016 season. Cal was one of the founders of girl's ice hockey in Minnesota. He was a great youth coach, in hockey and softball, where he delighted in coaching both of his daughters. Cal loved traveling, particularly in Europe, as well as spending time with his friends of many years. He loved being a husband and a brother. He loved being a father and, in his later years, a grandfather. He was deeply loved and admired, and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Billie; brother, Curtis; daughters, Britt (Richard) Gage and Greer (Todd Troskey) Lundquist; sister-in-law, Rita Gjonnes; and grandchildren, Sayer Calvin, Emerson, and Elliot Gage. Memorial services will be held at The Memorial Chapel at Lakewood Cemetery with reception to follow, on Friday, January 13 at 12:00 PM.  Born: June 6, 1930 Death: December 16, 2016 Share your thoughts and memories in the guestbook.
