Carol Jones Obituary Carol Jean Jones (McCullough), age 98, passed away Dec 15, 2023 at her home in Edina. Carol was born August 7, 1925 to James & Erva (Smiley) McCullough. She is preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia, sister Lois and husband George Jones. She graduated from West High School where she met her future husband. She attended Carlton College and the University of Minnesota where she was an Alpha Phi and made life long friends.
Her love of art and beautiful things defined much of her life. She started painting as a child and continued as an artist her entire life. As "Carol of Edina" she designed beautiful hand created purses that sold all over the country and are displayed in 2 museums. She was an interior designer creating lovely and welcoming homes. Her creative talents were called upon often as she helped with countless, memorable charity events Junior League, Childrens Hospital, The Poe Opera, House Tours, The MIAs Brighton Opener, St Stephens Church and so much more. She belonged to Edina, Minikahda and Royal Poinciana Country Clubs, Gyro, and Monamore. She enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge, mahjong, needlepoint, throwing big parties and traveling the world. She and George established themselves in Naples in the 1980s where they enjoyed living on the beach and being snowbirds.
Carol loved family time, entertaining and always had an open door. Whether it was entertaining for business, a dance club party or one of her kids pool parties, she graciously welcomed everyone in her home day or night. Her curiosity for cultures, art and entertainment has left a legacy with her entire family. She is survived by her children, J. Scott (Bonnie) Jones, Tom (Trish) Jones, Nancy Jones, Karen (Scott) Wooldridge; grandchildren, Heather (Chad), Thomas (Kirsten), Andrew, Sarah (Brett), Claire (TJ) and Grace (Matt); great-grandkids, Chadwick, Scotty, Bennett, Rory, Peyton, Ellary, Izzy, and Trip.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Children's Cancer Research Fund or St. Judes.
