Scharlau, Charles Warren “Chuck”

Welcomed into the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ on September 10th, 2026. Chuck was born on November 21,1936 in Whitehall, WI, the third son of Edwin and Juliet Scharlau. He grew up on the family dairy farm in Independence, WI. He graduated from Arcardia High School and enlisted in the US Army to travel, meet people, see the world, and take advantage of the GI bill to take his skills as a mechanic to the next level. He spent his army career stationed in Germany as part of the 101st Tank Brigade. While there he drove bus for the US Army, was an exceptional tank mechanic, and a Korean War Veteran. After his discharge he attended Dunwoody Institute in their Automotive Technician program. He started working at village Chevrolet in Wayzata, MN in 1959 and was a master mechanic for 41 years until he retired in 2000.

Chuck is predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Juliet Scharlau, his brothers Russ and Don, his first wife Beverly and his son Tony. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Bruce (Fiona) Scharlau; daughter, Amye Scharlau; daughter-in-law, Kathy Scharlau (Andy); brother, Ed (Rennie) Scharlau; sisters-in-law, Avis Scharlau and Cleo Scharlau; grandchildren, Ryan (April) Scharlau, Sean (Josie) Scharlau, Helen (Jae) Lee, and Jake Scharlau. He is also survived by stepchildren, Diane (Mike) Cashman, Mike (Kathy) Glampe and step-grandchildren, Casey (Andrew) Wallace, Ben (Shelby) Cashman, Daniel (Lexi) Glampe and Joey Glampe as well as 7 great-grandchildren and many other family members.

Volunteering was a big part of Chuck’s life and he wanted to give back to the community. He was a volunteer fireman for the City of Plymouth, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, for 21 years: volunteered for the MS Society for 35 plus years (his first wife Beverly and his son Tony both had Multiple Sclerosis), taught Sunday school at Redeemer Lutheran in Wayzata for 35 years, was a member of the Lake Minnetonka Power squadron for many years and was a part of the Plymouth Crime and Fire Prevention Fund Committee for years after he retired from the fire department.

Funeral services will be held at Glory of Christ Lutheran Church, 4040 Highway 101 South, Plymouth MN on Friday September 18th. Reviewal starts at 9:30 am with the service at 11:00 am. Guests are invited to lunch afterwards.
