Obituary

Charles Curtis 'Curt' Dunnavan Obituary Charles Curtis "Curt" Dunnavan, Age 96, died November 21 from complications related to a heart attack. Only one month previously, he had been traveling with family and attending social gatherings. Curt grew up in Edina, MN. He graduated from Blake School and then attended Dartmouth College where he earned a BA. After graduation he earned his MBA from Tuck School of business. He spent his early career working as an investment analyst in NYC and San Francisco. In 1979 Curt founded CC Dunnavan and Company, a Minneapolis based investment company. He remained Chairman of the Board until recently. As a young man, Curt was hired to lead bicycle tours in Southern France. Thus began his love of travel. He and his stalwart traveling companions sought out adventure in areas of the world mostly restricted to travelers. Always immensely generous to his family and community, he worked to enhance the Asian Art collection at the MIA and supported historical restoration projects, environmental groups and organizations providing services to those in need. Though he was ever present and kind to his family throughout his life, he shared magnanimity with all who knew him. A work colleague once described him as "Everybodys Uncle". Over the past ten years, and as the last member of his generation, Curt became especially dear to his family. He hosted many family gatherings and looked forward to hosting Thanksgiving at his home this year. He is survived by his nieces: Leslie Aksomitas (Mark), Mary Dunnavan (Roger Gross) and Susan Dunnavan (Terry ONeill): his grandnieces and grandnephews Kate, Erin, Paul, Annie, Kelly and Andrew and four grandnieces and nephews.
