Obituary

Christopher Dunlap Obituary Dunlap, Christopher JamesAge 60, of Minnetonka Beach, MN, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on March 28, 2010. Chris was born on October 3, 1949 to Richard James Dunlap and Marian Carol Dunlap in Iowa City, Iowa.Chris was a graduate of Wayzata High School and attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth. It was there that Chris met the love of his life, who became his wife of 38 years, Maxine. Chris and Maxine moved back to the Twin Cities area where Chris eventually owned and operated several successful businesses in the insurance, agricultural, manufacturing and medical industries from the 1970s through his retirement in 2000. Although he was successful in business, Chris always felt his real success came in his love of family, love of life, and living that life on his own terms. That made Chris a role model for his three children, Andrew, Peter and Emily. He taught them to believe in themselves, and that true joy in life comes through sharing it with family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, Chris hunted and fished several major landmarks throughout the Midwest, Canada and Alaska, and bagged many trophies, which gave him bragging rights to his hunting and fishing partners. Chris fished the deep-sea waters and major tributaries in the Florida Keys up until two days before his death. Although Chris loved the bounties that nature offered, he also loved to nurture orphaned or injured animals back to health. There was never an animal Chris met that he didnt love, and there was never an animal that didnt love him back. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Dunlap.Chris is survived by his loving wife Maxine, sons Andrew (Stacy) and Peter (Tina), daughter Emily (Matt), grandchildren Emma, Hudson, Timothy and Ava, mother Marian, sisters Kim, Leslie and Melinda (Delbert) and many nephews, nieces, his "Grand-puppies" Milly and Ruby, and many friends.A private family service will be held in the future, and the family requests only your prayers and kind thoughts in lieu of memorials.
