Obituary

Courtney Ann McDonough

Our hearts were broken when we lost Courtney Ann McDonough on October 31, 2025. A radiant soul whose light touched everyone blessed to know her, Courtney sparkled in every room, her laughter contagious, her kindness effortless, and her creativity boundless. Some of Courtney's greatest gifts were her sense of gratitude, making others feel valued and loved, and the ways she turned ordinary moments into pure magic.

Courtney was a devoted wife to husband Kyle, and a loving mother to Kalin and Max, the lights of her life. The most important things to Courtney were her unwavering faith, her family, and friends – especially the sisterhood she found among close family and friends absent a biological sister. Her warmth, wisdom and sense of humor drew people in, but her kindness, loyalty and compassionate nature made a lasting impression. Her mere presence was a beacon for all.

She loved to begin her days with coffee on the deck with her husband, on a path with her running group, or solo walks in nature where she experienced God, sharing His beauty of it all with us.

Courtney will be remembered for her steadfast faith. Her life was built on the Lord her Savior. With a heart rooted in His Word, she walked humbly with Him, finding strength, peace, and purpose in His promises. She trusted the Lord and rested in His faithfulness. Those who knew her witnessed her ability to finding God's goodness in every moment.

Courtney McDonough was born in Edina, Minnesota on September 9, 1970, beloved daughter of Don "Bart" and Karen Bartholomew, and was deeply loved by older brother Gregg. Raised in Bloomington, Minnesota, she attended elementary through high school there, forging life-long friendships, in addition to those found in college, her places of worship, neighborhood, and the greater golf industry.

Courtney enjoyed countless visits and the peace she found on the family farm in Hamburg, Minnesota, as well as her many visits with Aunt Joani and family in both Colorado and Texas.

Courtney graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stout in 1993. With a lifelong passion for fashion and merchandising, she began her career at Olympic Hills Golf Club, followed by this, her 30th year at Wayzata Country Club. In addition to her skill of keeping the golf shop impeccable and inviting, her members and staff thoroughly enjoyed her distinctive creative touch, noting how her passions were always on display. In her personal life, we all benefitted from her many labors of love, typically homemade and rooted in themes to love, believe, have faith and always hope.

She loved sequins (sparkle was her favorite color), plaid and flags – all of which you are encouraged to wear when we gather to celebrate her remarkable spirit.

Preceded in death by her beloved mother Karen, Courtney is survived by her husband Kyle; her two children, Kalin and Max; father Don Bartholomew (Sue); brother Gregg Bartholomew (Megan) and their children Gracie and Bennett.

Courtney is also survived by Kyle's family, parents-in-law, Howard and Sue; brother-in-laws, Brad (Tonya) McDonough; Scott (Lisa) McDonough and children Mae, Walter and Ruby; Brian (Eva) McDonough and children Jake and Conor.
