Dallas DeGrote Obituary
DeGrote, Dallas age 72, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2009. He was a University of Minnesota graduate from the Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He later earned an MBA from the Carlson School. Dallas began his professional career as the 14th employee hired by Control Data, helping to shape the direction and success of that company and rising to the level of Vice President of Manufacturing. He had four talented children by the age of 30 and taught them through example the value of humility, duty and love. A man of great integrity who always put his family first, and led strongly with intelligence, courage and humor. He developed computer games, often said his passion was golf, read constantly for pleasure and information, and had a sharp interest in politics. He enjoyed lunches out and poker nights with his group of men friends, some of whom were connections from high school. He was a spiritual man, liked by many. He will be missed. He is survived by wife, Patricia; son, David Elliot DeGrote; and daughters, Darcie Smuk (James), Elizabeth Blaufuss (Erich) and Susan DeGrote; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Kimberly and Ava Elizabeth Hope. Funeral Monday, 1:00 PM at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road 6, Plymouth. Visitation Sunday (TONIGHT) from 5-7 PM at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E.
