Obituary

Daniel Hoffman Obituary Hoffman, Daniel Anthony passed away peacefully June 21, 2024, at age 75. Born to John and Rosemary Hoffman in St Paul, Minnesota, Dan was one of eight active brothers, all of whom inherited athleticism and a competitive spirit from their parents. Their home was filled with a myriad of sports equipment for all to share. Vacations were often to northern lakes, sometimes split between the older boys and younger boys. Hours were spent on the water fishing. Fond memories and a love of the water drew Dan and his wife Barbara to Lake Minnetonka where they raised their two sons. He coached little league, soccer, and attended almost all of their hockey games. Dan became an excellent fishing guide to his sons, and his friends, never turning down a chance to wet a line. Often he would forego his cast to catch a smile for others. His trips expanded to various locations across the US, Canada, and beyond seeking the next big one. Lake Minnetonka also led Dan to get his captain's license and sail the Great Lakes and BVIs. The family enjoyed many other inspiring travel adventures together and with others. Skiing in the mountains was a family favorite. Papa delighted in his grandkids. He regularly enjoyed their many sporting events and gave them the skills to fish and play a mean game of cribbage. The most treasured times together were spent with the entire family at the cabin in Wisconsin. Dan had a lifelong and successful career in commercial insurance beginning in 1970 as a salesman. He then began working at Dolliff Insurance and became a partner. His more than forty years of hard work and integrity built a legacy he truly enjoyed. Dan will be missed by his wife, Barbara, his sons, Matthew (Anna), Nicholas and grandchildren Marcella, Scarlett, Henry, Hallie, and Hunter. And he will be also missed by a wide circle of great friends and companions from all his adventures, a fun loving long time gourmet group, colleagues, and clients who became friends. All who knew him will remember his quick wit, cagey smile, determination, and love of life. Mass of Christian Burial will be on July 18, at 11:30AM, at Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Road 24, Wayzata, MN with visitation beginning at 10:30AM. A luncheon will follow at the Lafayette Country Club, 2800 Northview Road, Minnetonka Beach, MN.
