Obituary

David Delaney Obituary Delaney, David Joseph, Sr. 83, of Wayzata, passed away June 29, 2016. Preceded in death by wife, Buffy, siblings Frank, Tom and Debby. David attended St. Thomas Academy, The University of Colorado Boulder, the U of M, and served as an officer in the Air Force. David enjoyed youthful days sailing at the White Bear Yacht Club and writing a popular humorous column in his high school paper. Following his fathers footsteps as a banker, David joined the executive team at First National Bank of Minneapolis, and was later president of First National Bank of the Lakes. He loved to ski, travel, and play bridge. He was a loving and loyal husband, and a wonderful father. He loved to play golf at Woodhill Country Club, and while on family golf vacations despite having his nose broken by an anonymous relatives stray ball. Even in moments like that, Davids family and friends appreciated his unique sense of humor, which never failed to lift us up. He was kind and generous. David got great satisfaction from his ability to give to and employ others as a result of his entrepreneurship. He was known to go to great lengths to help even strangers who came to his door. David loved his family fiercely, and was known as Grampa Gumdrop by his nine grandchildren. He made us all aspire to be better people. He is survived by children: David Delaney Jr. and Francine, Lucia Delaney and Mark, Louise Wahl, Debby Christakos and John, and by sister Moira Moga. Visitation 10:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am, Thursday, July 7, St. George Catholic Church 133 N Brown Rd, Long Lake. Reception at Woodhill Country Club to follow. Memorials may be directed to the MN Lions Vision Foundation, or Catholic Charities.
