David Hill Obituary David E. (Doc) Hill
Age 88, long-time resident of Wayzata, MN passed away Sept. 26, 2015 after a brief illness with melanoma. He was with his twin daughters, Jacqueline Hill (Robert) and Elizabeth Welch, both of Maryland, at the time of his death. Survived by special friend, Marge Menard; two grandchildren, Dan Welch & Kamaili (Mason) Freed, and Sunni Tweet; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Cameron, Kyan, Dylan and Tyson.
Dave was born February 9, 1927 in Manchester, New Hampshire and was himself a twin. He was the son of Margaret and Howard Hill. He was raised in Saco, Maine where he attended the Thornton Academy.
Dave served as a US Army military police officer during WWII in Hawaii. After the war he was a Honolulu Police Officer. While in this position, he provided protective services for then Vice President, Richard M. Nixon and other dignitaries. From there he had a career in sales working for Carborundum Corp. in NY and MN. He pursued a second career with Di-Coat Corporation working for them until the day prior to his death. Dave spent many hours in his beloved Mooney airplane and volunteered for Angel Flight and Air Life Line. He was a member of the following organizations: Masons, American Legion, American Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Aloha Temple Shriners in Hawaii and was active in the Zuhrah Shrine Flyers of Minneapolis. Dave was very active in his community and enjoyed playing McGruff, the Crime Dog.
A celebration of Daves life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3rd from 10 AM to 1 PM at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E Wayzata Blvd in Wayzata. He will be buried in Saco, Maine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the following: Angel Flight, Shriners Hospital of MN, and the American Cancer Association of Minnesota.
