Dean Thomas Obituary Thomas, Dean Frost Age 88, died peacefully on July 13, 2009. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gwen Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa, and sister, Helen Irwin of New York City. Dean is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline Nutt Thomas; sons, Terry and Jeffery; daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Michael Huddy; and nephew and wife, Dean and Audrey Irwin. Dean was a former Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Pillsbury Company from which he retired after 36 years of service in 1982. Born on October 4, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa, Dean graduated from the University of Michigan in 1942. After graduating, he joined the US Army and spent one and one-half years in WWII European combat as an infantry officer. Dean attained the rank of Major and was awarded both the Silver Star and the French Croix de Guerre for his exemplary military service. Dean loved life and was most happy when enjoying activities on and around Lake Minnetonka where he lived after his honorable discharge from the Army until his death. Dean will be sorely missed by all who knew him as the loving, generous, engaging, and honorable man that he was. A private service will be held at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
