Della Lauridsen Obituary Lauridsen, Della (Hughes) age 94, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at her residence, Summerwood of Plymouth. Della was born April 30, 1918 and she was proud of her Welsh heritage. Della grew up on a farm near Dedham, Iowa. After her marriage to William Lauridsen they moved to Carroll, Iowa where she with her husband lovingly raised her family. She moved to Minneapolis in 1997 to be near her daughter and bought a town house in Cimmaron Ponds of Plymouth. She moved to Summerwood of Plymouth Presbyterian Homes in 2009. Della was a wonderful, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved people and treated all with respect. She loved her family and they loved her deeply. Gram was the true matriarch of the family. After she moved to Minneapolis she and her daughter went on many trips together over the years. Della was a member of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. She volunteered for many years at her churchs recycling store, the Steeple People Thrift Store and was a member of the Plymouth Walkers for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Beach (Bob); grandson, David Beach; granddaughter, Cathy Boies (Andrew) and six great-grandchildren, Whitney, Andrew, and Nicholas Beach, Carly, Brynn, and Aaron Boies. Della was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Billy; parents William and Jessie Hughes, and sister, Dorothy Werner (Wilbur). Memorial service 10 AM Friday, September 14, 2012 at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Avenue, Minneapolis with Reverend Sally Johnson officiating. Della will be buried alongside her husband and son in Carroll, Iowa. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the church, Steeple People Thrift Store or Summerwood of Plymouth.
