Donald Arthur
Peterson
March 3, 1928 – May 18, 2026
David Lee Funeral Home
Starts at 11:00 am (Central time)
Donald Arthur Peterson, 98, of Plymouth, MN, went to visit his Lord on May 18, 2026. He was born March 3, 1928 in Northfield, MN to the late Arthur and Jewel (Johnson) Peterson. He was the loving husband of the late Eunice (Lee) whom he married on April, 13, 1957 in Fosston, MN.
Don graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, then went on to serve our country in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952.
Don worked for Mark Hurd Aerial Surveys in St. Louis Park, MN as a draftsman. In 1971 he was transferred to the western office in Santa Barbara, CA to manage that office until its closure in 1977. He transferred back to Minnesota where his career ended in 1983 due to layoffs. The company eventually closed its doors. A new career opportunity presented itself and he went into the printing business, owning a Sir Speedy franchise. That adventure lasted just a few years before he sold the business. He worked for Winning Edge where he framed pictures and did screen printing then he volunteered at IOCP where he took in donations, greeting everyone with a smile.
Don was also the author of “Dear Folks”, a book he had written about a soldier (him) writing home to his family from the battleground of the Korean War. He was extremely proud of this accomplishment and had even considered writing a sequel.
In 2014 Don sold his house and moved to Summerwood of Plymouth; a senior living community. He moved into memory care in 2022, where he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Don is survived by his daughter, Joni (Rick) Pentland of Billings, MT; two grandchildren, Jackie Pentland of Billings, MT, Andy (Stephanie) Pentland of Billings, MT; five great grandchildren, Ryder, Spencer, Aspen, Shane, Jordan, and sister Julie (Grier) of Richfield, MN, friends and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice, siblings Jack, Dorothy and David.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 31, 2026 at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata, MN 55391, at 11:00 AM. Light lunch to follow. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
