Obituary

Doris Hosfield Obituary Age 92, of Hopkins passed away on December 21, 2019. Preceded in death by her husband, John; son, David; brothers, Clark and Kee, parents Myrtle and Wilford. Doris was raised in Wayzata with memories that were always near and dear to her heart. She called herself "A Tough Wayzata Farm Girl" often sharing wonderful stories of life growing up in early Wayzata. Doris graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and was immediately hired by them after graduation to work in their office of communications. It was during her college years that she met and married the love of her life John. They were married for 68 years and raised their family in Hopkins. Doriss love for children led her into teaching for the second, and most fulfilling career in her life. She earned her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Minnesota and followed her passion for teaching at St. Davids Center. She worked there caring deeply for the children she met until she retired at age 76. The many cards, letters and invitations to special events she received from her students over the years reflect the fact that the caring ran both ways. Doris enjoyed golf with friends and at Maddens Resort, camping at Cross Lake and season tickets to Gopher Football and Basketball (at The Barn). She will always be loved, respected and remembered by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff at Sunrise Senior Living in Golden Valley. We would also like to thank all of the neighbors and friends that looked out for her after John passed away. A memorial service celebrating Doriss life will be held at 11 am Monday, December 30, at Wayzata Community Church (WCC), 125 Wayzata Boulevard East, Wayzata. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Doris will be buried at Summit Park Cemetery, which actually used to be part of the family farm when she was growing up. Memorials preferred to St. Davids Center for Child & Family Development, WCC, or The Animal Humane Society.
