Obituary

Dr Lewis Obituary Lewis, Darrell R. age 73 of Plymouth, passed away peacefully September 20, 2009 after an aggressive battle with lung cancer. He will be dearly missed by his daughters and son-in-laws, Sheri and Steve Nash and Lynae and Bill Peterson; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Laelle, Sophia and William. He is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-laws, Marilyn and Jerry Seeman, Beverly and Vernon Crowson and Geraldine and David Marquardt. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Marilyn. Darrell was born in St. Paul, MN and raised in Chatfield, MN. He served in the army stationed overseas and graduated from Luther College with a BA, then received his Doctorate in Economics from Louisiana State University. He was a Professor at Luther College and LSU before beginning his 40+ year career at the University of MN, primary serving as the Associate Dean of the College of Education and in the Department of Educational Policy and Administration. He wrote numerous publications, enjoyed research, teaching and mentoring, and was awarded around the world for his accomplishments. His distinguished career served him well as he was able to travel the world sharing his professional talents while fulfilling his passion for adventure. He loved and valued his family dearly and had a strong faith. He also had a passion for traveling with his family, for his horses, and for spending time at the cabin. Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 24th from 5-8 at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 25th 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2060 6th Ave. North, Long Lake, with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Graveside service will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Highland Cemetery in Highland, MN.
