Dr. Jose Mintalar M.D. Obituary Mintalar, Dr. Jose M. Age 93 of Wayzata., passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother and 6 sisters. Dr. Jose graduated with his medical doctor degree in 1957 from Manila Central University, Philippines. Dr. Jose married his wife, Dr. Adelfa in 1957. Dr. Jose completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Manila Sanitarium and Hospital in Manila, he also served as Chief of Staff at Miller Hospital in Cebu City. After leaving his mission work in Cebu City; Dr. Jose (Internal Medicine) and Dr. Adelfa (OBGYN) started their own private medical practice in Manila. In 1962 he came to the United States and took a year of internship at E. Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee in Internal Medicine then at Midway Hospital in St. Paul completing a 2 year general medical residency. Dr. Jose returned to the Philippines in 1965 to resume his private practice with Dr. Adelfa. Dr. Jose returned to the United States in 1967 with his family and served as Chief of House physicians at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN. He was also at the University of Minnesota Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Jose and his wife, Dr. Adelfa opened Cokato Medical Clinic in 1969, then in 1971 established Mintalar Medical Clinic in Mpls, where he and Dr. Adelfa practiced Family Medicine, he moved the clinic to Brooklyn Center in 1973 and practiced until he retired after 44 years of medical practice in 2001. Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Dr. Adelfa; son Dr. Eric (Marilou) Mintalar; beloved grandchildren, Blake Mintalar, Sydney Mintalar. Many other relatives and friends.
