Obituary

Elaine Dennett Obituary Dennett, Elaine Virginia (Donham) died on January 27, 2006 after a brave battle with cancer, her son Robbie at her side. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jeannette and Carl H. Biorn; parents, Lucille B. Guyer and Robert C. Donham; sister, Patricia E. Wray (Donham); uncle, Norman Biorn and wife Betty; grandparents Jeanette and Karl H. Biorn; great-grandparents, Adolph T. and Ann S. Rosin; and stepfather, Reynolds Guyer & family. She is survived by her son, Douglas Robert James Dennett of Wayzata; daughter, Ashleigh Vivianne Dennett Rowe and her husband William Thomas of Charleston, SC; niece, Alexandra Wray, and a host of loving and loyal friends. Elaine graduated from Summit School and the University of Minnesota with a degree in Art History. Her career was devoted to resettling the Asian community and helping others find employment. For more than 30 years, Elaine volunteered in a number of capacities at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. She was particularly passionate about the Asian Art Department and, most recently, became an Art Adventure docent for the Institute's children's program. Elaine had a love of world travel and the art and history of other cultures, and was known for her artistic flair, elegant style, and openness. She also was an avid tennis player and a member of Twin Cities Social Tennis Club and Match Singles Tennis Club. A special thanks to all of her tennis friends for providing her a better quality of life through their friendship. Also a special thanks to all the friends and neighbors of Breckenwood. Elaine was especially grateful to Dr. Gail Bender and the Oncology Staff on 4th floor and the Angel Room at Methodist Hospital for the care she received and also to Dr. Steven Saliterman-her personal physician. A memorial reception will be held at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, on Thursday, February 9 at 4:00 p.m., for sharing memories. The MIA, through the Asian Arts Council, is preparing a lecture and reception to be held in Elaine's honor, details to be announced.
