Eleanor Hageboeck Obituary
Hageboeck Eleanor Gildner Hageboeck, age 96, of Wayzata, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, died June 17, 2005. Preceded in death by her husband, William T. Hageboeck; son, Fredrich; granddaughter, Kathryn, and brother, William Gildner. Survived by son, Norman (Diana); daughter, Anne (Richard) Higgins; grandchildren, William (Gina) Hageboeck, Elizabeth (Mark) Schill, Debra (Stewart) Foley, Douglas (Kristin) Higgins, Jay Higgins, Ann (Jeff) Goettman, Amy (Howard) Jarvis, Sara (Jason) Maas; 10 great-grandchildren. During her 72 years of residence in Iowa City, Eleanor was extremely active in the community. Her involvement included serving on the boards of the American Red Cross, the Iowa City Recreation Commission and the University of Iowa Foundation. She and her husband received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Iowa Alumni Association in 1993. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O., the Nineteenth Century Club, Mortar Board and a 75-year member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Eleanor was an honorary signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society and, as an accomplished artist, enjoyed this means of expressing her love of nature and the out-of-doors. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
