Obituary

Elizabeth Dunnavan Obituary Dunnavan, Elizabeth, Stevenson age 92, of Wayzata. Died peacefully on May 28th at NC Little Hospice in the presence of her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, to whom she was married for 63 years; her parents, Eleanor and Raymond Stevenson, and sisters Tiny Soiberg, twin Ann Stevenson, and Jean Haverstock. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Aksomitas (Mark), Mary Dunnavan (Roger Gross) and Susan Dunnavan (Terry O'Neill); grandchildren, Kate, Erin, Andrew, Paul, Annie, and Kelly; brothers-in-law, Curt Dunnavan and Jim Haverstock. Liz grew up in Minneapolis, attending Northrup Collegiate School. She graduated from Mount Vernon College in Washington D.C. and then served there in the WAVES during World War II. She married Richard, the love of her life, in 1948. An avid sportswoman and nature lover, she sailed Lake Minnetonka on her Hobie Cat with her dog Chessie, skied, played tennis, and took pride in beating her daughters at golf at age ninety. She loved parties and friends, always finding reasons to have great gatherings. Friendships were cherished and continued throughout her life. She was naturally curious, always engaged in a pursuit of knowledge, loved bridge and bible study. A dedicated volunteer, Liz committed time to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, teaching ESL, working for Traveler's Aid, and tutoring students at Minneapolis Schools. Always a conscientious citizen, she insisted her children dedicate time, very early in life, to be active volunteers. Liz and Richard took their grandchildren traveling to other countries in an effort to enrich their young lives. We are grateful for the tender loving care provided by the Becky Fredrick's staff, Mary Jane Edlefsen and the NC Little Hospice staff. A private family service will be held. Memorials may be directed to NC Little Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Ln, Edina, MN 55435.
