Obituary

Elizabeth Miller Obituary Miller, Elizabeth M. Betty age 85, of Plymouth, MN passed away quietly at her home on Wed. January 25th. Preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Col. Thomas A. Miller, her parents and brother. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Betty Wetherill graduated from Penn State University in home economics in 1941. There she met Tom, and later they lived the Air Force life together, moving from the DC area to bases in MO, MA, GA and NE, raising 2 children along the way. Betty volunteered for 30 years at the Offutt Air Force Base (Bellevue, NE) Thrift Shop whose proceeds go to help needy military families. She enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong with dear friends and wandering the trails of Fontenelle Forest and Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Betty was an avid reader, walker, bird and wildlife watcher. She moved to Plymouth just 2 1/2 years ago to be closer to her son and his family. Betty's family was her life, to which she gave her all. Intimately involved in her children's and grandsons' lives, she imparted to them values that will always enrich their lives. Watching them all grow and prosper was her greatest joy. Betty was a wise and dignified woman who always enjoyed intelligent conversation, laughter, current events, and BBC shows, along with a glass of sherry. Her beauty and serenity impressed all who knew her. A love of travel, of discovery and exploration, was a big part of Betty's life. She loved her trip to Europe with Tom and her journey to AZ for a Wetherill Family Reunion commemorating the famous brothers who discovered major prehistoric Anasazi ruins and artifacts in the Four Corners region. Betty traveled often with her daughter around mountains of the American West. She especially loved beautiful landscapes and wild nature. Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, the Beartooths, Glacier and the Canadian Rockies are places where she felt closest to God. Betty was always a bedrock of stability, love, caring and selflessness to her family and many friends, including her children's friends, who became part of the family. Everyone who knew Betty will greatly miss her presence. The world is a better place because of her. Survived by son, Bill Miller & his wife Claudia of Plymouth; daughter, Gail Richardson & her husband, John of Bozeman, MT; and grandsons, Tom, Dan, Ben and Tim Miller, to whom she will always be their beloved Nam.""; 3 nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends. A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 4 p.m. with visitation starting at 3:30 PM at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd. in Wayzata. Betty's ashes will later be spread in a wildflower-filled mountain meadow. Special thanks to Kerry, Cara, Mary Jo and Rebecca of Methodist Hospice. Memorials to the National Audubon Society or the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
