Wier, Emmett Jack, age 90, of Golden Valley, Minnesota, died on February 3, 2026. Jack was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1957. He served as a Captain in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1960. He also served several years in the Nebraska National Guard.

Jack came to the Twin Cities in 1960, where he began working as an Aerospace Engineer for Honeywell. During his 40-year career with Honeywell, he worked on numerous projects for NASA and the Department of Defense, completing his career in 2000 as a Senior Engineering Fellow. He holds a number of patents for engineering and technology designs.

Jack enjoyed participating in many sports and was an avid fast-pitch softball pitcher, and later a distance runner, competing in the Boston Marathon as well as the Twin Cities and Grandma's marathons. He also enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the cabin with family and friends.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett "Skelly" Wier and Evelyn Wier of Nebraska City, Nebraska.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan McGrann Wier; sister, Mary Donna Patton of Nebraska City, NE; children, Scott Wier and wife Sheila of White Bear Lake MN, Cindy Laurent and husband Brian of East Bethel, MN, and Bruce Wier and wife Krista of Ronan, MT; along with 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held March 27, 10:30 a.m. at Covenant Living of Golden Valley, 5800 St. Croix Ave N, Golden Valley, MN 55422, in the Fellowship Hall, with a light snack to follow. A luncheon for family and friends will take place at 1:00pm at the Chester Bird American Legion Post 523, 8900 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley, MN 55427. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
