Fred Steiner Obituary Born to Fred Martin and Viola Fredrickson Steiner October 4, 1935. Fred grew up on St. Pauls East Side and graduated from Johnson High School. He attended Gustavus Adolphus college in St. Peter, Minnesota and graduated in 1957. Fred met his future wife, Roxanne at GAC and they were married at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in 1959. Fred was a private in the U.S. Army, Company B, Reserve Forces Act Battalion where he received recognition for exemplary performance of military duties. Private Steiner was selected as the outstanding trainee of group XLIII Reserve Forces.
He joined Honeywell Corp. as a contract manager, becoming Vice President of Aerospace International. Fred and Roxanne raised four children, F. David, Mark, Stephen, and Mary Kathryn. He was always interested in music, played the piano and trombone. Attended Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra as a child, sang in the First Lutheran Church Jr. Choir in St. Paul without missing a service for nine years. Fred and Roxanne were Senior Choir singers at Mt. Olivet, and he became president of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony Orchestra. The couple attended the Naples, Florida Philharmonic Classical Series Orchestra annually and became Pelican Bay tennis aficionados. In Minnesota, Fred golfed at Interlachen Country Club. A more "sedentary" life with 9 grandchildren became his and Roxannes focus in recent years, praising God for His blessings.
Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024 at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave South, Minneapolis with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church Music Program, Gustavus Adolphus College, or the American Swedish institute.
