Gerald Fox Obituary
Resident of Golden Valley, Los Gatos, CA
Jan.1, 1948 Oct. 10, 2017
Gerald C. Fox, "Jerry," to his family and friends, passed away on Tuesday after a long illness. He touched many lives with his courage and generosity.
Jerry was preceded in death by his loving parents, Bill and Katherine Fox, and his beloved cocker spaniel, Alex.
Jerry was born on January 1, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He spent the happiest years of his childhood in Minneapoliss Bryn Mawr neighborhood, sometimes literally in over his head, involved in adventures and misadventures with his brothers and many friends, including Bryn Mawrs Boy Scouts Troop 161. Jerry graduated from West High School in 1966. Always outgoing and gregarious, and a lover of corny jokes, Jerry made many friends working for over 25 years in the shipping and receiving department of Lakeland Engineering Equipment Company. Despite many medical challenges, he also operated a profitable metal recycling business in his spare time. Among Jerry's many interests were philanthropy, classic cars, and swimming. Those interests all came together in Jerry's relationship with the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute (aka Courage Center), a Golden Valley, Minnesota-based rehabilitation center. Jerry became involved with the Courage Center while recovering from a serious fall. He particularly appreciated the benefits he received from its aquatics therapy program. When Jerry was no longer able to cruise in his 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air, he donated it to the Courage Center's Cars for Courage program. He also endowed the Courage Center's Gerald C. Fox Fund for Aquatics and Physical Therapy. For those and other contributions, Jerry is a member of the Courage Center's Legacy Society. Jerry moved to Los Gatos in 2011 to be nearer to his family. However, he wasted little time making many new friends during his excursions downtown. Jerry and his family will always appreciate the help and love these new friends gave to him. Jerry is survived by his brothers, Richard (Wendy) Fox and David (Margene) Fox; nephews, John Fox, Joel Fox, and Charles (Ashley) Fox; and nieces Allison (Alan) Greene and Molly (Nerrie) Zohn. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E Wayzata Blvd in Wayzata, MN. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Wayzata Community Church, 125 E Wayzata Blvd in Wayzata, MN, followed by interment at the Groveland Cemetery, Minnetonka, MN. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.
