Obituary

Gerald Ulmen Obituary Age 87 of Plymouth, died April 2, 2011. Survived by sons, Louie (Micki), Brad, Scott; daughter, Chris; son-in-law, Stanford Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sue; grandchildren, Leah, Erin, Alicia, Pati, Max and Adam; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Zack, Charlie, Greta, Louis and Connor; brother, Eddie; niece and nephews, Dee, John and Jim Hamel; dearest friends, Noreen Lagerquist and family, the Nathes of Plentywood, MT; special friends, Steve Jay of Wayzata and Stanford Clinton III of Grand Rapids. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marge and daughter, Kathy. Born in Ray, ND, the 11th of 12 children. This proud Marine fought in WW II, and was gravely wounded at Iwo Jima. Jerry lived his life with utmost integrity and love for his family, friends, country, job and colleagues at Pako. Despite their conservative North Dakota upbringing, Jerry and Marge lived life fully and funly - a touch on the wild side. They were well known in their neighborhoods in Irving, Texas and on Susan Lane in Minnetonka as fun loving, game for the likes of lawnmower races, Halloween costume parties, and bridge marathons. Both were bridge Grand Masters. Jerry and Marge loved to travel, even after a scooter accident in Mexico left Marge injured in a questionable Mexican hospital. Golf and fishing (especially in Canada) were Jerrys favorite activities. Jerry and Marge belonged to Burl Golf Club. Jerry is already in heaven, teeing off with Marge and her sister, Roberta, and LaVerne, who was his brother-in-law and best friend. Funeral will be held on Tuesday April 12, 11AM at Wayzata Community Church, 125 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, with visitation one hour prior and burial at Fort Snelling immediately following the service. In the Ulmen tradition, the burial will be followed by a happy celebration of Jerrys life, and life in general, at the Wayzata American Legion. Semper Fi, Dad. Your family and friends dearly miss you.
