Irene Goodfellow Obituary Irene Marra Goodfellow, 97, of Plymouth, MN, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024. Irene was born on August 5, 1927, on the family farm near Hull, IA, to Teunis and Rena (Doeksen) Marra, Irene grew up with 5 siblings. She attended Welcome Township #3 Country School in Sioux County Iowa and graduated from Sioux Center High School. She went on to attend the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. This training enabled her to secure employment as assistant to the Dean of Science at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. It was there where she met Vance V. Goodfellow. On September 1, 1951, Irene married Vance (passed 01-09-2004). Married 52 years, they began their life together in Fargo, ND; then moved to Maplewood, MN and settled in Plymouth, MN to raise three children. Irene worked for many years at Mrs. Charles Kelly Real Estate and Maggie's dress shop in Wayzata. She ended her career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Irene is best remembered for her pride in Iowa, the importance of anything Dutch, love of travel, her independent spirit and passion for feeding the birds. She is survived by children Diane Dietz (Stewart), Kim and Scott; plus, many other relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son, Vance Goodfellow, Jr.; four brothers Wilmer, Bill, Ted and Clarence Marra; and sister, Dorothy (Marra) Franken. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the donors favorite charity. The family would like to thank the Summerwood and Eaglecrest staff for their compassionate care. On Saturday, September 21, 2024, a Celebration of Life will be held at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd; Wayzata MN, 952-473-5577. Visitation at 11:00 AM, service at 12 PM and a light lunch at 12:30 PM. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery.
