Irene Steiner Obituary
Steiner, Irene Gillette (Peggy) age 96, of Wayzata, Minnesota. She was born in 1913 and grew up in Minnesota. Spending time on her grandfather's farm in Excelsior was where her love of the outdoors and lifelong passion for horses developed. She married George Steiner in 1937 and together they had four children. After WWII, George returned to work on the east coast and Chicago for American Linen Supply (now AmeriPride Services). In 1959 they moved back to Minnesota. Peggy was involved in a number of organizations, especially her alma mater Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA where she served on the Board of Trustees for many years. She, also, loved gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and maintained communication with many friends across the country. George died in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband George Steiner; son Robin Steiner, brother Jack Gillette. She is survived by her daughter Georgia Wiester and her husband John; sons Larry and his wife Joy, Bruce and his wife Julie, and daughter-in-law Chichi Steiner; grandchildren, Allison Hill and her husband John, Lawrence Steiner and his wife Ginger, Alexis Roland and her husband Greg, Andrew Steiner and his wife Cassidy, Betsy Hawn and her husband Ben, Frederick, Morgan, Amy and McIvor; great grandchildren David, Deborah, Katherine, Bruce, Calyx, Haven Ila, Philip, Annaka, Brandt and Penelope. Services will be held at St. Martin's by-the-lake, Minnetonka Beach on May 8 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
