James Fahnhorst Obituary Fahnhorst, James John "Jim" Age 66, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kim; daughter, Jamie (Harrison) Hoffman and sons, Grant (Monica) Fahnhorst, Logan (Ashley) Fahnhorst; grandchildren, Waylon, Margot, Lettie, Vivian, Henry, Ava and Lawson; siblings, Beverly and David; among many other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Victor and Gertrude Fahnhorst; brother, Keith. Jim, a St. Cloud Tech graduate and Minnesota Gopher standout, played two seasons in the USFL and signed with the 49ers as a free agent in 1984. He spent all seven seasons of his NFL career with San Francisco and was a contributing member to three Super Bowl Championships (XIX, XXIII and XXIV). After his professional career, Jim's favorite thing was coaching, from college football all the way down to his children's sports teams. He never shied away from sharing a story, telling a good joke, and encouraging others. He was beloved by God and will be greatly missed. Funeral service 11 am Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Glory of Christ Lutheran Church, 4040 County Rd. 101, Plymouth. Visitation 2 hours prior at church. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made in Jim's name to The National Kidney Foundation.
