James Feeney Obituary Feeney, James J. Age 83, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Wayzata, Minnesota, died on April 1 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patrice; as well as his sister-in-law, Gervase Barron of Audubon, Iowa; and brother-in-law, John Beecher and wife Nora of West Branch, Iowa; 28 nieces and nephews and 75 grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Feeney; sisters, Mary Daly, Sister Heln Marie Feeney, Madonna Edel, and Lois Knapp; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Daly, Elmer Edel, John Knapp, and Matthew Barron. Jim retired from General Mills, Inc. in 1989 as Senior Vice President following a 41 year career serving in various sales, marketing and general management responsibilities with the company. A World War II veteran, Jim served as a Navy officer in the Pacific Theater. He was a 1948 graduate of the University of Iowa. During his career, Jim served in positions with a number of industry, charitable, and educational organizations including as Chairman of the Miller's National Federation, Executive Committee of the American Bakers Association, Boards of the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, American Institute of Baking and the Wheat Industry Council. Jim also served on the Boards of Regents of Clarke College and Loras College and as Chairman of St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center and the University of Arizona Heart Institute Advisory Council. Throughout his life, Jim was committed to family, friends, church and country. He was especially proud of the role he and Pat were able to play in assisting with the educational achievements of his 75 grand nieces and nephews. He was a kind and generous mentor and friend, colleague and co-worker and he will be missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 5 at the Church of St. Bartholomew, 630 East Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with prayer service 6:30 pm on Friday, April 4 at the David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata and 1 hour prior to the Mass at church on Saturday. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights. Memorials are suggested to the Jim and Pat Feeney Endowment for Alzheimer's Disease Research at the Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, AZ or to St. Bartholomew's Church, Wayzata, MN.
