James Graven Obituary Graven, James Andrew Age 87, of Longville, formerly Plymouth, MN, passed away on October, 4 of natural causes. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Joan, his siblings and parents. Jim was born in Hutchinson, MN on Sept. 24, 1926. He graduated from Hutchinson HS and continued his education at Luther College, obtaining a teaching degree in Social Studies and Physical Education. He served in the United States Army from 1945-1946. Jim was married to Joan Dayton on June 11, 1950, and enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Jim worked as a teacher, coach and athletic director with the Wayzata Public School District for over 30 years. Throughout his life, he held the relationships developed with colleagues, athletes and friends in high regard. He enjoyed the cabin, fishing and family. Jim is survived by children, Christine (Kurt), Rebecca (Ed), James (Fran); grandchildren, Joanna, Jonathan (Julie), Sarah (Eric), Bethany (Kris) Elizabeth and Jack; great grandchildren, Becca, Brennan, Brady and Kellan and other family and friends. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 17 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at Vision of Glory Church, 13200 Highway 55 Plymouth, MN 55441. Pastor Leland Evenson will be officiating. Private burial will follow at Ft. Snelling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Wayzata Athletic Association, Vision of Glory Church, and Struthers Parkinson's Center.
