James Peters Sr. Obituary Peters, James G. Sr. "Jim", Age 84, of Golden Valley, passed away 9/2/2018 at home with family after a long struggle with his "formidable foe", prostate cancer. Born in Ghent, MN, September 25, 1933. Survived by wife of 64 years, Joan (Nelson), sons John and Jim II, daughters Libby Best and Patrice Perkins (Dan), grandchildren Liz Dawson (Jack), Charlie Perkins and Emily Roberts (Rhett), great-grandchildren Hendrix and Siena Roberts, in-laws Don and Audrey Hammer and Adeline Peters and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Cornelia Peters (Konyn), and siblings Ann, John, Ted, Nell Murphy, George, Eleanor, Charles, Georgie, Wally, Lee and Canara. Jim attended St. Eloi Parochial School in Ghent. He graduated from Marshall High School and Mankato State University with a B.A. in Biology. He had a long and successful career as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Pfizer and Ciba-Geigy. He was a hard working, loving husband, father and grandfather, who liked to care for others. He enjoyed many camping, fishing, and road trips with his family. Jim and Joan also enjoyed many good trips to Europe and Asia. Mowing his lawn and snow blowing were activities Jim greatly missed in recent years. He was lovingly called "Jumping Jim" because he was very active and always ready to lend a helping hand. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 145 Jersey Avenue S, Golden Valley, MN 55426.
