Our beloved Jim, 85, passed away on August 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alyce Rothbauer.

Jim is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 58 years; his beloved son, John (Connie); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jim was a true Renaissance man. A creative entrepreneur and talented designer, he founded Sawhorse Designers and Builders in 1977 and built it into the region's leading residential remodeling company. A Minneapolis native and North High School graduate, he excelled in gymnastics and helped his team win the 1959 Minnesota state championship. He later served four years overseas in the Navy and earned a degree from the University of Minnesota.

After a massive stroke in 2005, Jim showed remarkable strength and resilience, living a full and meaningful life for 21 more years with Linda by his side.

Jim's love for his family and friends knew no bounds. Though he began life with few resources, he created opportunities and support for those he loved.

He found joy in helping others pursue their dreams and enjoy life's blessings.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor and remember Jim on Thursday, September 24th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Lord Fletcher's, Paddle Club Room, 3746 Sunset Drive, Spring Park, MN.

The family requests donations to the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in lieu of flowers.
