Obituary

James Schwantes Obituary Schwantes, Dr. James H. 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Minnetonka, MN on November 27, 2006. Jim was born in Bismarck, ND. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry in 1943. After graduation, he was sent to Hawaii by the U.S. Navy until the end of World War II. Following his time in the service he practiced dentistry in several locations before opening his office in Hopkins and Minnetonka where he remained until 1989. He loved his work and so he brought it home where many of his long-time patients and friends continued to seek his help. In 1995 he retired completely to spend more time with his family, at the bridge table and on the golf course. He shipped all of his dental equipment to Naples, FL where he volunteered his services at the Senior Friendship Center. In 1972 he married Carolyn and acquired four more children. He is survived by his children, Mary (John North), Connie, Michael (Amy), Chuck Cole (Summer), Susan Aurand (Jay Evarts), Cindy Aurand and 10 grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his first wife, Gen; his sister, Marion and brothers, Merle, David and Carl. Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2nd at 3 pm with visitation starting at 2 pm at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata.
